Yes, a medical visa is required for ALL patients seeking medical treatment in Taiwan for extended stays, regardless of nationality. Unlike travel visas, which may be waived for some countries, a medical visa is necessary for longer treatment durations.
• Medical Visa Validity: Typically ranges from 2 to 3 months or longer, depending on your specific medical condition and treatment plan. The duration is determined by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan (view official guidelines).
• Assistance: Our IMSC team will guide you through the application process, including preparing required documents such as diagnosis & treatment proposal from a Taiwan medical institution – our hospital.

(1) Obtain a Treatment Plan Document: Once you decide to seek treatment in Taiwan, our staff will assist you in obtaining a Treatment Plan from our doctor. This document is required for your visa application.
(2) Apply at Your Nearest TECO Office:
• Please access the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of Taiwan website: https://visawebapp.boca.gov.tw/ to fill out application form online and print it out.
• Submit your medical visa application at the nearest Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in your home country or nearby country.
• Additional documents, such as a bank statement, may be required based on MOFA’s policies.

(3) Wait for Processing: The processing time usually takes 3 to 7 working days, but this may vary by country.
